THREE CROSSES

I was surprised by this light on the painting on December 8, 2007, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It was what I had imagined for the concept of the painting.

The light was reflected, and refracted into colors of the spectrum, by the angular edge of a mirror on the opposite wall of the studio. It was encouraging to have this light appear on a painting that I was still working on, but at the same time, I was humbled to realize that to try to create light with gooey oil paint, is always a futile endeavor.
